Tiffany Lynee Carr, 34, of Glen Burnie, was charged with child neglect and other offenses following a months-long investigation into her toddler's death in August.

Officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department were called late in the afternoon of Aug. 17 to the 8000 block of Winding Wood Road, where they found the child unresponsive lying face down inside the home.

The child was rushed to an area hospital and later pronounced dead, according to the police.

Investigators say that "evidence was recovered from the home, and interviews were conducted."

Toxicology results later indicated the presence of opioids in the child's system, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.

Carr was subsequently charged with involuntary manslaughter, child neglect, reckless endangerment, and other offenses.

The investigation is ongoing.
